Well, yes

I wish there were more AS tutorial that explain WHY the code does what it does, not just 'copy this code into flash.' If you made that, it would be cool

Ok I will. Next update.

Indeed

I like the idea of making a game with the sole purpose of being annoying and frustrating. And you did it perfectly! But y'know, EA has like a hundred games out there that basically have the same idea behind them...

Cool

Ah, lighten up Harry Potter Fan Boys. It's only a game. I read the books agaes ago, and yes, they are a lot cooler than you'd think, but it's all the hype and those awful movies that everyone hates...

Anyway, nice game. Not amazingly original and no depth of gameplay but that was hardly the point, was it? As far as these games go, this is a good one. I often feel using the mouse to shoot stuff doesn't feel very solid, but this did because of the SFX and the exploding potters. I would suggest making the different weapons more varied. EG a shotgun that has to reload but gives you a bigger crosshair or a rapid laser with a smaller crosshair, something like that. But it was a lot of fun.

thanks for the review, your interest has been noted

Cool

That was really good for a first game. It felt solid, although I would prefer it if the side of the screen and exploding comets didn't kill you. Especially the comets, takes the edge of shooting them right at the last second coz you just end up dying. If you expanded on this, though, it would be cool coz you have a really nice little shoot em up engine there.

That was brilliant.

All the greatest games have a fundamental, simple mechanic behind them. Mouse Avoider is no exception. The simple concept of moving a dot around the screen with a mouse and avoiding obstacles is opened up by expert design. The artist has a firm grasp of game design and how to expand on a good idea. The mouse control system is really what makes this submission so unique and it works perfectly. The graphics may seem ugly to some but I feel any more detail would detract from the playability. The animation itself, although far from complex, is smooth and the collision detection is perfect. Those who admire games for their design rather than complexity or narrative would be hard pushed to find a better tirle on NG.

Great!

I gave it a 7 based on the success of the game against what it was trying to acheive. I think 7 is high in comparison to other, more ambitious games. On the other hand, this was brilliant for what it was. The graphics did the job and the music suited the action. I really enjoyed playing this, and that's the most important thing. My only suggestion would be to perhaps consider making the boulders move at different speeds, increasing the chances of a combo if your timing is right. Good work!

You are onto something

This is very good work as an engine for a game in development. You should really do more work on this as it has the potential to be quite a nice little shooter.

The graphics, sound and animation are all fine. However, the collison detection is a little random. I flew straight through an asteroid without dying! This needs to be fixed. A lot of work also needs to be done on level design. Nobody minds arcade games being repetetive to a point, but the pace should be a little better judged. The action takes a long while to get going, with few enemies on the screen at once and little challenge. You should consider making the enemy ships fire bullets at you.

For inspiration I think you should really look at the design of games such as R-Type 3, Ikaruga and Gradius 3. Nobody expects you to make a game as good as these titles, but they will give you insight if you pay attention to the way the levels are structured.

You have a lot of potential

The whole thing with the meteors is that if you sit on them to long then you lose life gradually. We did test a version where they did kill you on impact but it seemed to hard to get past at some points. We have also been working on enemies shooting back but yet again we were killed by time contraints. Still workin on it though so thanks for the feedback!

w00t!

Well done. you get a medal for sound. 'dem zombies was screamin' like da shizzle had hit da fan! w00t and no joke! I'm off 2 smoke une zOOt! PS minew hi wuz 55 score, and it needs a table.....OMG it needs a table!

Inspired.

wOOt dat wuz lik so totully FuZnitchl bl8m fvio omg! In other words, I'm glad I'm not the only one who feels this way...

This sent me insane.

This is a cracking game where you have to collect little cute bunny heads and kill helicoptors, but that's not really relevant because the music is so damn good it makes the game! I dunno, maybe I just have a soft spot for nonsense. And what the hell am I supposed to be? Staring at the game character graphic for too long will give you strange hallucinations...

Hello, kids! How are you doing? Just thought I'd let you bask in my glory!
